Incubate June News

#BlackLivesMatter

At Incubate Foundation, we pay our respects and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge the history, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on this land.

We also acknowledge that our own plight as a multi-hyphenated community in Australia is tied to the plight of the Traditional owners of this land we now call home. Until there's social and economic justice for them, there's no foundation for us to receive the same. We will continue to be an ally, speak up on injustices and champion change that will enable an inclusive society. Ubuntu - we are because they are!

For our own community, we shall continue to advocate for youth empowerment so they can be active participants in the economy and wider Australian society. Our work is to enable young people to be captains of industries, business owners and decision makers who will have a seat at the table and contribute to changing the unjust archaic system that has no place in an inclusive society.

We find ourselves in a moment of history where there's a global willingness to confront systems and beliefs that have oppressed one group of people over another. May we reflect on Nyadol Nyuon's words on how we are hyper-aware of the African American injustices but lack the knowledge or same vigor for Indigenous Australians' injustices on this land. May we endeavour to do better, educate ourselves and connect with our fellow bla(c)k brothers and sisters to build a better future. We're looking forward to how the second part of our Bridge Program will explore such opportunities.

At a time where it is so important to speak up, we commend the courage of our past Guest Mentor Nyadol Nyuon on being an advocate for marginalised communities. We continue to be inspired by her strength and passion to stand up for what she believes in. Nyadol is a community role model and reminds us why it is important to take up space and speak up on injustices and advocate for change. We honour you Nyadol!

GUEST MENTOR SERIES

Six weeks of our Guest Mentor series on Instagram Live just flew by. It has been such an amazing and insightful experience!

Our mentors dropped valuable insights and resources on mental wellbeing, personal development, workers' rights, getting job ready, financial empowerment and building an online business.

We've compiled them into one handy section to watch in case you missed any or want to re-watch the series.

We are already gearing up for Season 2! Watch this space!
