Then we invite you to consider being part of the Incubate Media Lab.

The Incubate Media Lab is a project developed in partnership with Scanlon Foundation and ThinkHQ to create a hub for young people interested in collating and curating authentic stories about the community.

We have created a paid media coordinator role for 2 days a week and a paid media advisory committee who will get trained to collate stories and contribute those stories to the media lab.

Incubate Foundation is a social enterprise that connects people to opportunities and builds the capacities of young African Australians through professional development, personal development and positive narratives. We are looking to develop a media lab to collate and curate positive narratives with the assistance of a media coordinator and a media advisory committee.

Media Coordinator-Media Lab

Expected Duration: 2 days per week for 12 months including leave loading and 9.5% superannuation. You will be working mainly from the offices of ThinkHQ in South Melbourne.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person with an understanding of media and communications to act as the overall coordinator for our Media Labs project which will include coordinating the the media advisory committee.

Key expectations

You will:

  1. Report to the steering committee (Incubate Foundation, Scanlon Foundation and ThinkHQ) regularly and provide direction to the media advisory committee

  2. Co-deliver and coordinate the capacity building workshops and support the media advisory team and ThinkHQ in collating and curating community stories

  3. Work with stakeholders to develop the project plan and collect relevant data to evaluate the effectiveness of the project

  4. Attend stakeholder meetings relevant to the project

  5. Any work required to facilitate the completion of the Media Labs project.

Key Skills

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills

  • Good knowledge of communication tools (including social media) and/or story telling and scriptwriting skills

  • Excellent people skills

  • An ability to create reporting templates

  • A strong interest in media narratives and storytelling

  • A strong knowledge of and connection to the African Australian community

  • Timely reporting and coordination of events

  • An ability to facilitate workshops will be an advantage but not crucial.
     

Media Advisory Committee 
Duration: 2 hours twice a month for 12 months at $45/hour 

We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and responsive people for our media advisory committee 

Key expectations

 You will:

  1. Source and craft stories for the Media Labs and provide them to the Media Coordinator to share and promote on a designated platform

  2. Attend meetings regularly twice month

  3. Do any work required to facilitate the successful completion of the Media Labs project.

Key Skills

  • Excellent People skills

  • A strong interest in community narratives and storytelling

  • A strong knowledge of and connection to the African Australian community

  • Timely reporting and responsiveness 

  • An ability to find and put together good, diverse community stories
